Positive Parenting From Two Homes For Kids is an educational children’s program that aims to:

  • help children learn about separation and divorce;
  • provide a safe and neutral place for children to discuss their thoughts and feelings;
  • help children learn they are not alone; and
  • teach children coping skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The Positive Parenting from Two Homes For Kids program is run in the school system in conjunction with the school guidance counsellor.

Each program is presented in five, one-hour sessions. The program is divided into three age groups: grades 1-3; 4-6 and 7-9. There is a maximum of ten participants per group. The program coordinator and school guidance counsellor attend each session, providing age-appropriate information through group discussion, activities, stories, art, videos, play, and role-playing. At the end of the program, participants receive a workbook to take home as well as a certificate indicating their completion of the program.

How to access this service
Positive Parenting From Two Homes "For Kids!" is a voluntary program. Interested parents are asked to contact their child’s school guidance counsellor. Siblings attend different sessions.
